What is a Proforma Invoice?
A Proforma Invoice is a pre-sale document sent to a prospective buyer showing what the final Tax Invoice will look like – including itemized prices, taxes and validity. It is not a legal accounting document and does not create a payable.
Is a Proforma Invoice the same as a Tax Invoice?
No. A Proforma Invoice is sent before the sale to obtain approval or advance payment. A Tax Invoice is issued at or after the sale and is the document that creates the GST liability. Always issue a Tax Invoice on confirmation.
Can my buyer pay against a Proforma Invoice?
Yes – that is often its purpose. Many B2B buyers and export customers pay an advance against a Proforma. Once you receive the payment or confirmation, issue a Tax Invoice.
Can I edit the template in Google Docs?
